The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has released a new resource to help volunteer and combination departments with the two of the biggest challenges facing the volunteer fire and emergency services: retention and recruitment. The new video, Retention and Recruitment in the Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services, explains the importance of retaining and recruiting volunteers and provides departments with ideas on how they can overcome the challenges as they search for volunteers.

The video is currently available on the NVFC web site at www.nvfc.org/RR. Copies of the DVD will also be distributed to each state fire association. The NVFC also provides additional retention and recruitment tools and resources, including podcasts, sample ads and public service announcements, and guides for departments, at www.nvfc.org/RR.
