WHY: The APCO International Second Annual Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards Dinner is the premier event bringing together the policy leaders within the public safety communications community to honor those who have vigorously worked to create, advocate, and promote public safety communications policy.

The APCO International Second Annual Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards Dinner will feature award presentations to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Kevin Martin for Leadership in Advancing Communications Policy; Reps. Jane Harman (D - Calif.) and Curt Weldon (R - Pa.) for Leadership in Legislative Service; Tracy Simmons, FCC associate division chief for Licensing, for Leadership in Regulatory Service; and Harlin McEwen, chairman of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Communications and Technology Committee, and Steve Souder, director of Public Safety Communications for Fairfax County (Va.), for Leadership in Advocacy.
